Temple Island, Henley on Thames at 1 am with the moon light just rising to illuminate the Temple.
These stones in the village of Avebury date to 2800 BC. There is just a glimpse of the Milkyway starting to rise above the stones. The light pollution in the distance is the town of Marlborough
Kimmeridge ledges in Dorset is an iconic site for photographers. The right conditions are what we seek. Sometimes those might not come during the day light hours, and so I try and push the boundaries into the night. Clavell Tower is the light on the headland. This was an amazing night. The large star is Jupiter and to the left is Saturn with the billions of Milkyway stars stealing the show to the right. How small we are! (Hope the passerby who I chatted to me sees the light show he missed.)
Henley On Thames with the moon above.
Milkyway at 4 am with rock pools.
A cold frost morning during lock down at Temple Island, Henley On Thames. The sun is rising from the left and the moon setting to the right.
Long exposure of the weir in Henley On Thames
Temple Island as the fog lifts to reveal the stars above.
Full moon at Mupe Bay Dorset. This is not sunset but in fact a moon rise over the sea stacks. It was known as the Buck Moon and this year it had an amazing yellow glow to it as it rose above the horizon. Mupe bay is only open from time to time, as is within a military firing range which is closed most of the week. The walk was quite steep in places but worth
The monastery sits in the Vale of Ewyas within the Black Mountains that rise above the ruin.
This 900-year-old ruin is awesome at any time of the day, but under the stars, it is quite an exciting place to visit. There is a pub next door which helps.
Moon above the stone
Stonor House in the winter
Thames River under the stars.
Always seen this one during the day and reckoned it would look cool at night. I took this at 4 am after dropping my daughter of for an Early shift at Tesco. I’m that kind of Dad!
