Fantastic winter view early in the morning after climbing to the summit in the dark. This looks across Assynt one of the strangest landscapeds in Scotland.
This image was taken on the summit of Goatfell on the Isle of Arran during the summer.
Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. This is a hard location to shot from as the original path to the shore collapsed a few years ago. It needs a steady nerve to get to this point.
An abandoned boat on the road near Loch Slapin on the Isle of Skye.
This was taken on a journey from Loch Coruisk to Elgol on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. It beat the living daylights out of me in driving wind and rain. I stayed overnight at the bothy in Camasunary and this is the view back towards Camasunary in the morning.
Stac Pollaidh with a cloud inversion below in the valley next to Mt Suilven with the sun rising above and the full moon illuminating the foreground (Next slide is a zoomed clip of the inversion over Suilven)
This well-known location is just North of Glasgow. I am sure loads of kids from Glasgow over the centuries have messed around in here. It is as deep and dramatic as it looks (and sounds), producing some exquisite light in the right conditions.
Callanish Stone Circles under a full moon. These standing stones are 5000 years old and older than Stonehenge.
This is the tiny village of Applecross, Scotland which has views across the Isle of Skye. A very large starfish tries to escape to the sea on the beach.
Driving from Applecross towards Torridon.
One of the most stunning beaches in the Outer Hebrides. It looks inviting but be warned, my experience was a rather icy dip in these waters.
Alternative shot of Buchaille Etive Mor from Beinn A Chrulaiste. A climb up in the dark to get the sunrise before is disappears in the clouds and mist.
A passing moment in the Cullins Hills in the Isle of Skye just before climbing over the "Bed Step" which sent the blood racing a bit when doing it in the rain and wind. The weather was appalling...which makes for great photos
One of the many waterfalls from a trip to the Isle of Arran. This trip had some of the worst, unrelenting, weather I have seen in 30 years of trips to the Scottish West coast. As a photographer, we adapt and overcome!
The Outer Hebrides on the Isle of Lewis in Autumn. The view is of the Mangersta sea stacks as the evening draws in. A very isolated, lonely and magical place. This is probably the furthest you can get from civilisation in Britain.
August sunset on the Isle of Mull. Woolly hats are needed even in at this time of the year
A full river after Storm Babet, with water running down from the Cairngorm mountains in Autumn.
Suilven seen in the distance, although under 800m is a serious climb. Going up is OK but coming down is a bit exposed. It towers above the flat Assynt landscape
View from Applecross while camping on the beach.
A classic view of this location on the Isle of Skye taken at sunrise in October.
An iconic highland cow roaming the Isle of Skye with the Black Cuillin Mountains in the background.
Secret location with a waterfall on the Isle of Sky.
70 mph winds batter Rannoch Moor on the approach to Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands. This is always a moody location whatever the weather.
On the road to Fort William looking towards the Glengarry Forest.
Luskentyre Beach with a full moon setting and the sun rising behind the author.

The summit of Cairn Gorm in Scotland. Torrential rain from Storm Babet has been dumped here as deep snow in October, despite this being the hottest year on record, the start of winter has come early in 2023
Author, taking in the scene after coming down from a summit camp.
I have called this after the angry tree in J R Tolkien’s book The Hobbit. Strangely there was a film crew filming Star Wars about a mile away….odd considering we were in the middle of nowhere in the Scottish highlands.
This image was taken at about 4am at the foot of Foinaven. This is a spectacular climb to the top, and was one of the best we have done in 30 years. We only came across one other person during the 7 hour walk.
A Wild Scottish Goat in the mountains above Glencoe.
This is Ariundle Oakwood National Nature reserve. An amazing area of ancient Oakland. Fantastic at anytime of the year.
I noticed the swirling water below this autumn tree along the West Coast of Scotland near Acharacle a few weeks ago. The long exposure brings out the real pattern of the waters circular movement under the tree.
A client shooting sunrise at Glencoe’s most iconic mountain.
